Perhaps, it's time to moove on to more happening activities on the other side of the fence. One of our contributors to Get Moooving Movable Art 2008, Alan Bernard, is having a couple of competitions going on in March on his website. These includes some "kick ass" prizes such as Customized Vinyl Toys, Tees, Limited Edition signed artists Books, and some neat stickers from famous designers. So, do visit www.alanbernard.com/mayhem from time to time and make sure you take part in the competition(s)!
Congrats to Muid Latif for the awesome dance routine! No doubt, he
got leg cramps from his first dance but the cheers and motivation from his fellow Flickr friends got him back on
track. His moves were fantastic; the crowd cheered for more. His second
performance was an elaborate freestyle dance, both were choreographed by
himself. With a carefree attitude and the passion for the arts, Muid certainly holds the key to
a bright future in the design community. All the best!
Thanks to Chin Thing, Ren Ying and Jessica Loo for the strong support. We salute Raymond!
“Many take for granted the ‘form and being’ of this important daily used of the water closet (wc). Rejecting the idea that mundane everyday used object can be no more than stationary and inanimate; we hereby introduce the exhibit of a double-edged mirth. The title for this three-part installation – Passing In Motion (PIM) and its twin fold connotations being (1) the literal meaning of the intimate relationship between man and his wc when passing motion (2) that the wc is an extension of human motion and form.
Our vision is to do a role reversal: to use the pristine whiteness of water cisterns as a canvas art and to force viewers to notice the form and to appreciate the function of a wc. A contemporary dancer swathed fully in white linen and paint will then interpret the theme and perform spontaneously on the spot. Not only does the dancer provides literal ‘motion’ but also takes on the dynamics of the wc. The roles are reversed; instead of viewing the wc as an extension of human motion, the human is now an extension of the wc.”
